Hunter Boats

Hunter Aquality  Craft

Miss Mariposa

Miss Mariposa was found in Pennsylvania. She had been in that area for quite some time.  I had heard that she was in that state so my wife and I went on a hunting expedition.  We found one of the former owners who did not own the boat any more but would not give me any info on where she could be found. We found out through another person that she went to a restoration shop on one of the Finger Lakes in New York State. We proceeded to the restoration shop and found out that the boat was in Buffalo. We got hold of the person in Buffalo and he said that he had wanted to restore her but felt he got in over his head. I purchased her and brought her home to Canada. I understand that she was originally owned by Molson Breweries in Montreal although I have not been able to verify that as yet. She is one of two of this model built by Hunter and she is the only one left as the other one burnt. Miss Mariposa also had a fire in her engine compartment.

These are pictures of her when I found her in Pennsylvania.

These pictures are from the transom as it was replaced.

Next I started to replace the ribs. Below is the steamer

As every rib is different in Miss Mariposa I had to build a different pattern for each rib.

Here you can see that the ribs in the back have been replaced. In the last picture you can see where the motor hatch will be and where the aft seating will be.

She is 27 ft. long but was a double not a triple.
More picture as we proceed. She is on hold for now as I am restoring my 1954 Shepherd Hardtop after that I hope to restore Miss Catherine. She can be found under History.
